In the previous post we spoke about writing, and how good it can be to get words on the page, noting down how we're feeling day to day. This type of writing can be done well in a daily journal, or in short one-off pieces that you create when you need to.
There is something so beneficial about sharing our experiences, whether that's just with the page or screen, or with others who 'get it', no detailed explanations necessary!
COVID did a real number on community gatherings for a long time. We couldn't meet in person. Getting together in groups was very risky for months after lockdowns, and even now, exercising care and caution is so important to keep ourselves, and others, well and healthy.
Breast Cancer Support closed many of its in-person groups due to COVID and now hosts a Zoom 'Cuppa and Chat' every month where women can grab a cuppa and get together to chat about what's going on as they navigate the breast cancer pathway. Talking over the coffee cups in a reassuring, confidential space can lessen fears and anxieties, answer questions, provide information and tips for coping, and share the certain knowlege that we are not going through breast cancer alone.
So whether you're writing, or talking, it's good for you. You'll feel better. There will be laughter (because this is part of the path too) and there will be honesty and truth, and there will be the unspoken bonds of fellowship that grow between those who come in as strangers, and leave as friends.
